Bio

Tanya Diedrick is the Vice President of Risk and Insurance Management at H&R REIT one of Canada's largest diversified real estate investment trusts .   She is responsible for the implementation and management of various risk transfer and mitigation programs for the REIT's ~11.1 billion dollars of total assets across Canada and the US. Prior to working at H&R REIT Tanya spent almost 4 years as an Analyst in the Legal/Risk Management department at the iconic Canadian coffee company, Tim Hortons. Tanya began her career in the property and casualty insurance industry in the early 90s, first as an Underwriter, and then as a Registered Insurance Broker of Ontario (RIBO) licensed broker. In her 25+ year journey she had the opportunity to work for some of the largest global brokerages based in Toronto. She has earned her designations as a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), as well as the Canadian Risk Manager (CRM), and is currently completing her Fellowship designation jointly through Ryerson University and the Insurance Institute of Ontario. She is passionate about giving back to her industry and was a career ambassador for a number of years through the Insurance Institute's Ambassador Program. The program promotes students at the high school and college level, as well as career changers, to realize potential careers in the rewarding world of insurance. Tanya currently serves as the Past President of the Ontario Risk and Insurance Management Society (ORIMS) chapter.  She is also a co-founder & co-chair of a peer-to-peer Risk Manager’s Roundtable with 24 members from North America’s commercial real estate industry.
