The Passing of Lloyd Hackett

The Passing of Lloyd Hackett

It is with the deepest of sympathies that I inform the membership on the very sad news of the passing of Lloyd Hackett.

Lloyd passed away in his sleep in the early hours of Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

He will be lovingly remembered by Marilyn, his wife of 60 years, his daughter Susan, his sons Dave and Larry (deceased) and his grandson Sean. Dear brother of Bev Lindars (husband Fred). Fondly remembered by his extended family, close neighbours and “church family”.

For many years, Lloyd was the Risk Manager at the Ford Motor Company and then moved to Eaton's as its Risk Manager until its closing.

He was a long standing member of this Chapter, serving as President in 1971-1972.  Lloyd was an avid supporter of the risk management profession in Canada who remained active in our industry even after retirement and was appointed as RIMS first Canadian Director of Legislative, Risk Management and Public Affairs.

Lloyd was the past recipient of the Don Stuart Award (Canadian Risk Manager of the Year) and was recognized by RIMS with the Richard Bland Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of legislation.

Lloyd’s impressive professional achievements were matched by his humanity. He was a very generous, kind and giving person who will be missed by those who knew him.
